Your work (and business) has undoubtedly evolved over the years.
Even you were super intentional about your decisions, over time pieces can become out of sync – through no fault of your own.
It's can be confronting when the puzzle pieces do not fit together the way they used to.
Eventually the lack of flow causes underlying worry and stress that impacts so much more than we realize until we pause to look at it.
If nothing else, you start anticipating the need to invest time, energy, and attention into closing up any gaps but you may not know what that's going to look like, or what it might cost you.
I promise you, it is the not knowing that's worse.
Your business is about your services. Your focus is your area of expertise.
Reading the label on our own jar is inherently challenging. Especially when that's what you do for other people – because you likely see all the possibilities ahead of you.
And often what happens from there is... nothing.
More over, none of what you're doing is about optimizing your workflow – even if you're a "systems person." Because you cannot tell me you don't have 29435 other things vying for your attention! 😝
It can be the classic 'cobbler's children have no shoes' conundrum.
You know systems are important, but all things considered, it can be hard to imagine the immediate benefit from investing your time and energy into fixing things because "systems" are so amorphous.
Thus, improvements fall by the wayside.
Sometimes the disempowerment is an intangible feeling.... and is there anything worse?
It can be hard to describe because your business includes a lot moving pieces that all need to play nicely in the sandbox together.
On the surface everything may seem fine and check the right boxes – but underneath may be a different story.
Because...
You don't need to care about your systems to make it work.
That's kind of the whole point – it's not your jam anyhow, it's mine.
And getting the outside support means you can wash your hands of it, to a degree at least!
This happens because the disconnection leads to second-guessing decisions, communicating less clearly, and needing to change direction midstream.
(It can be particularly messy and frustrating if you have a small team.)
Most business owners know there will be consequences for bringing in new clients in when things are in flux and that doesn't help either.
This leads to an increase in soft cost, decrease in profit, and the greater likelihood of missed opportunities.
Compendium means "detailed summary" – a bit of an oxymoron!
Nonetheless, the perfect label for the powerful strategy guide I help my clients create through this experience.
It is a single document that summarizes all of the key information about your business, including your positioning, overall process, and key assets.
It's detailed in that it covers a lot of material, however, the goal is to make it inherently usable, thus it is focused on summarizing the key points and directing the reader to find details elsewhere.
I knoooow, I need a better name for this because it sounds like taking vitamins.
...however...
Naming things is not my strong suit. Systems are my expertise.
...moreover...
I'm a delight, talking to me is easy, and the whole analysis process is cathartic.
I pinky swear! 🤙🏻
I give you a detailed questionnaire that we go through together to review & assess your marketing, sales & operations.
The questions I ask are powerful enough for you to start spotting the cracks in your business foundations immediately.
Together we map a plan so you can resolve the issues before they become bigger problems.
Another thing that's not for nothing...
When you (as the potential client) say something won't work for your business, you want to feel heard.
The service providers you may be interviewing will often want to run their own tests to confirm what you're saying is true (at your expense, of course).
As a consultant with years of implementation experience, I understand where these service providers are coming from because validation is important.
But so is hearing what our clients are really dealing with so we can meet them where they are.
I feel there is a happy medium between a consultant who only trusts their own wisdom as the 'expert' on a topic – and the client (that's you in this case) always being "right."
Because – ultimately – you are the expert on your own business.
And still, there are likely pieces that you can't see – because reading the label on our own jar is next to impossible.
When you can be open about your frustrations, you will share more detail, nuances, and the scoop on what is going on under the surface.
That's when and how we can address the challenges at the root effectively.
Only after confirming I understand your situation from your point of view, do I use my twenty years of experience with system implementations to help you assess the gaps and potential challenges.
From there I can help you determine where you want to head, and where appropriate, make strategic recommendations.
We prioritize the plan of action at the end so you are at ease when we finish – rather than feeling like you simply have more to do.
You'll have a clear sense of why we identified what we did, and what the pros, cons, and risks are to addressing each item.
If you have never worked with a coach before, it is a compassionate and client-focused form of professional consulting that guides you to your own answers.
I don't need to have all the answers to be useful, impactful, or have an effect on you and your operations – in fact, you may have better answers than I do.
What I bring to the experience are the eyes and ears of a neutral third party, who isn't caught up in the story of the 'way things used to be' or 'the way things are' or 'the way things ought to be.'
My coach training & experience gives me unique skills and allows me to deeply listen to what's really going on without needing to insert my own preferences, opinions, or strategy right away.
Together we can explore the details, nuance, and tapestry of context so that you can apply discernment to your situation as you move forward.
(once we sign the agreement)
By the end, you will have a clear understanding of the precise next steps to remove friction from your sales, marketing and operations.
My aim is to help you find clarity and determine the small changes that may have big impact, so you can avoid the hassle and drama that comes with embarking on a big implementation project out of the gate.
When we take the time to really assess what is working (and what's not) with vulnerability, we find satisfaction and peace about what needs to happen next – even if the 'answer' isn't something we're totally excited about.
Seeing the truth for ourselves is more peaceful than avoidance. While some realizations may surprise you, it is likely not as 'bad' of a situation as you might think – and putting off knowing the truth won't help you.
No matter what, you'll be able to stop spending so much time and energy worrying about your business (and cash flow) – because you will have clarity about your next actions.
Then you can start spending more time focused on the rest of your life – and with your family – while you implement your plan at a pace that works for you.
Sounds pretty good, right?
My aim is to help you make a good and informed decision for yourself and get you the support you need most.
